Saturday was slated to be the Marais – but since it is the Jewish Quarter and the Sabbath, the falafel place is closed. So Plan B is in effect. We walked from the apartment, through Tuileries, past l’Orangerie, Place de Concorde, up the Champs Elysee to the Petit Palais and the Grand Palais. We crossed over the Seine on the Pont Alexandre III with its wonderful view of Les Invalides. On the Left Bank we walked up rue St-Dominque to check out the location of the apartment we didn’t buy. From there we headed to rue Cler and its market street. We wandered the street, paused at a restaurant for lunch. After lunch we headed to St Catherine Laboure garden, stopped in at Bon Marche and the Grand Epicurian, kept going until we found the stairs at rue de la Montagne de Set-Genevieve, near St-Etienne-du-Mont where Gil waited every midnight in Paris for the car to pick him up. We walked over to the Pont de Archeveche where we placed our locks on the bridge and threw the keys to the locks in the Seine. We walked back to the apartment, purchased a few ingredients for dinner and will get a poulet-roti later!
And, of course, there is always lunch….
After lunch, we headed over to St Etienne du Mont, rue de la Montagne Geneviève where Gil (Midnight in Paris – 2011) waited for the beautiful vintage car to pick him up and take him back to Paris in the 20′s.
We wandered through the left bank and ultimately returned to Pont Archeveche, where both the Ramirez’s and the Daniels-Rohde’s placed a lock on the bridge
And, off we head back to the apartment for a dinner of roast chicken, potatoes, turnips, leeks – and a glass or two of wine! Another great day on the tourist trail – actually 6.7 miles to be exact…..
